David Raleigh Grant was born to Pearl Cantrell Grant and Brayton Julius Grant on April
28, 1944 in La Grande, Oregon. He spent his first 9 years in Elgin, Oregon, and trusted Jesus Christ as his personal savior in Cove, Oregon. God led him with family to Scappoose, where finishing grade school and high school. He taught Sunday school and was in leadership of the school Youth For Christ Club. Track and cross-country became a big part of his life leading him to Seattle Pacific College before Western Conservative Baptist Seminary in preparation for ministry. He joined the staff at First Baptist Church of Marysville in May of 1970 as youth/associate pastor, married his college sweetheart, Carol Easton, on August 15, 1970, and was called to be the senior pastor in February of 1973. He is father to Amy, Matthew, and Kristin. In 1984, he received his Doctorate of Ministries in Servant Style Leadership from the California Graduate School of Theology. He served there until October, 1989. After a 3 year sabbatical, he joined the staff of Northshore Christian Church in south Everett in June of 1992. Dave has been the "people pastor” affectionately known as "Pastor Dave"---leveraging his life experiences for encouragement and care for others as pastor, counselor, life coach---always trying to follow Jesus and let Him shine through his life in the process. David retired from Northshore Staff in June of 2015 and served as part-time Discipleship Pastor for Jesus
OnLine Ministries until April of 2018, seeking to help people take their next faith step. In June of 2017, Dave was diagnosed with Fronto Temporal Deterioration and bravely lost his ability to speak, write and balance himself as the disease progressed. Truly, as the Apostle Paul states in 2 Corinthians 4: 16, "The outward man is perishing, but the inner man is renewed day by day."
