In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Turner Brown (Buck) and grandson, Joseph Martin Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Diona Mitchell Turner; son, Robert A. “Tony” Turner (Jan); grandson, Robert Mitchell Turner (Morgan); great grandsons, Robert William Turner and Cooper James Turner; sister, Judith “Judy” Saunders (Buddy); and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Robert loved his family and was a member of County Line Christian Church where he had served as a deacon. He retired from Dupont. Robert loved fishing, hunting and everything about the great outdoors. He was an original founding member of the High Standard Hunting Club in Amelia County, Va. Spending time with Tony and his friends at the hunting club was something he always looked forward to each year.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 12:50 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm and will be officiated by Reverend Dean Ashby and Minister Curt Ashley. An interment with military honors will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
