Margaret Moore Scott, 81, of 796 Plantation Drive in Axton, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Axton, March 27, 1932 to David W. and Flora Barker Moore, both deceased. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and loved to sing gospel songs and read her bible. She was also very devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. “Jack” Scott; one sister, Jo Nolen and two brothers, Joseph Thomas and David W. Moore, Jr.
Surviving are three daughters, Jacqueline Trent of Danville, Lynette Warren (Dennis), Rebecca Bragg (Chris), all of Axton; three sons, James Scott (Debbie), Michael Scott (Norma), Steve “Lightning” Scott (Velinda), all of Axton; 10 grandchildren, John Trent, Jr., Melissa Trent, Shannon Gunnell, Michael Scott, Jr., Richard Scott, Angela Musick, Stevie Scott, Christie Scott, Jamie Scott and Aimee Scott; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ada Goode of Welcome, NC, Barbara Wells of Greensboro, NC and Gaynell Moore of Martinsville, one brother, Kenneth Moore of Martinsville.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Feburary 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Redd and the Rev. Eugene Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott Family Cemetery near the home.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the funeral service and other times at Mrs. Scott’s and the home of Michael Scott, 596 Plantation Drive in Axton.
Memorials may be made to Greenwood Baptist Church or Brosville Rescue Squad.
Arrangements are by McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville.
