Joel Landreth “Buddy” Turman, Jr., 74, of Martinsville, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 in Collinsville. He was born in Henry County, February 7, 1938 to Joel L. Turman, Sr. and Nora Dell Bowman Turman, both deceased. He was a graduate of Martinsville High School and served in the US Marines for 3 years and retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. After his retirement, he was employed by the Martinsville City Police Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Joe Turman Pendleton.
He is survived by his fiancée, Delores Eanes of Collinsville; two daughters, Paula Turman of Charlotte, NC and Jane Carr of Nottinghamshire, England; two sons, Joel L. Turman, III of Axton and James E. Turman of Waynesboro, three grandchildren, Justin Biles-Carr, Sophia Carr and Zachery Keith Turman.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville. Interment will follow in the Harrell Family Cemetery in Meadows of Dan, VA.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
