Born on August 28, 1937 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Francis Lee and Edna Love (Adams) Burke.
Wilford served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1961 as Staff Sargent and the Air Force Reserves 167th Camron from 1961-1962. He was a member of General Adams Stephen Chapter NSSAR, Supreme Council Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Osiris Shriners, and MAHA Lodge #80.
He was interested in Civil War History and many other history related eras, spent time researching genealogy and enjoyed gardening.
Wilford is survived by his children: Deborah Sue Thomas of Martinsburg, Thomas Andrew Burke of Spokane, Washington, Susan Lynn Burke of Columbus, Ohio, Kelly Dawn Benvengi (Rosario) of Emmitsburg, Maryland, Allison Leigh Huntsman of Martinsburg, and nephew who was raised by Wilford and Roberta, James John Krzcuik Jr. “Jay”; grandchildren: Jennifer Kathleen Stocker of Illinois, Gerald Wright Stocker III of Columbus, Ohio, Thomas Andrew Burke Jr. (April) of Ohio, Jessica Leigh (Terry) Daviaux of Ohio, Andrew Joseph Burke (Jamie) of Washington, Rosario William (Trey) Benvengi III (Sarah) of Sabillasville, Maryland, Heather Nicole (Aaron) Roper of Seattle, Washington, Brandon Wayne Potts (Nikki) of Martinsburg, Adam Christopher Benvengi of Dover, Delaware, Hillary Rae Lloyd of Spokane, Washington and Jamie Lynn O’Lague of Spokane, Washington; siblings: Gary Adams Burke of Bunker Hill; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta J. (Jenkins) Burke of Charles Town; grandparents: Thomas Monroe and Mary Etta (Johnson) Burke and Charles Alexander and Sidney LaHue (Clark) Adams; grandson, Matthew Ryan Potts; and son-in-law, Tommy Thomas.
Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Hoyt Maulden, John Mills, Isaac Shade, Trey Benvengi, Brandon Potts, and Adam Benvengi.
