Margaret Mary Jackson, also known as Peg, passed away on September 9, 2023, at the age of 75 in Martinsburg, WV. Born on August 14, 1948, in Albany, NY, she was the beloved daughter of George and Theresa Ertel. Peg attended Guilderland High School in her youth.
Peg dedicated over 20 years of her life to serving others as a dedicated employee at Blue Ridge Hospice of Winchester, VA. Her compassion and care touched the lives of many.
Peg was a kind-hearted and witty woman who had a special place in her heart for her family. She opened her home and took in her two grandchildren when they were young, providing them with love and support. Not only did she deeply impact the lives of her grandchildren, but she also left a lasting impression on many others who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. Peg was known as the "life of the party" by her grandchildren's friends. She adored her great grandchildren and cherished every moment she spent with them.
Peg is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Melissa Shirley, and her son-in-law, Kyle Butler, as well as her daughter-in-law, Ashley Kane. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, Grayson Butler, Layla Jackson, and Isla Butler. Peg is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen Zelker-Friebel, Donna Demarco, and Georgianna Oddy. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Orville 'Robby' Jackson.
Funeral services for Peg will be held at a later date in New York. The family will notify friends and family in the near future of a local celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a charity of your choice in Peg's name or contact family directly to contribute to her great grandchildren's college funds.
