George E. Keller

Born on March 7, 1927 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Earl P. Keller and Georgie E. (McDonald) Keller of Martinsburg. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

George retired from General Motors in Martinsburg after over thirty years. He served in the US Army from 1945-1947 during WWII under General Eisenhower. George was a member of Moose Lodge #120, VFW #896, Elks Lodge #778, and The American Legion Post #14, all of Martinsburg.

He was a faithful servant to the Lord and member of The First Baptist Church of Inwood for over 40 years. He read his Bible daily and loved the Lord and his church family.

George is survived by his loving daughter, Nada Santmier and husband, C.L. of Martinsburg; four grandchildren: Tina Jones and husband, Jarrett, of Martinsburg, Dwain Myers and wife, Alison, of Inwood, Robert Keller and wife, Carrie of South Carolina, and Michael Keller of Martinsburg; eleven great-grandchildren: Skylar, Savanna, Seth, and Gracie of Martinsburg, Brandy and Preston of Martinsburg, Jessep of Hedgesville, Taylor Keller of South Carolina, Brynne and Owen Keller of Inwood, and Makayla Keller of North Carolina; nieces; and a cousin, Paul Eugene McDonald.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mary Keller; his son, Michael K. Keller; brother, Lee Keller; sister, Beatrice Bowers; and brother-inlaws: Charles N. Bowers and Herbert Kilmer.

George was an avid golfer up to the age of 90. He loved spending time with his family and friends, he never met a stranger. He was “Pappy” to many and enjoyed camping and spending time at the creek on the Opequon.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his friends and neighbors Ernie Hedrick and Butch and Debbie Leonard; Linda, April, Jenna, and Jerrica from Lind’a Hand Caregiving for all of their love and care; the Women of the Church and members of The First Baptist Church of Inwood; and Dr. Joe Cincinnati for the kind care that he gave.

Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 10am-12pm. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.

Pallbearers are: Dwain Myers, Robert Keller, Jarrett Jones, Jessep Myers, Preston Scott, and Seth Klish. Honorary Pallbearers are: C.L. Santmier, Ernie Hedrick, and Butch Leonard.
