Evelyn J. Jones

Born on February 14, 1935 in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Emma Kidwell and sister of the late Betty Rodgers, Mary Allen, Joseph Kidwell, James Kidwell, and Ruby Miller.

Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church for over 55 years and a devoted follower of Christ. She was a childcare provider for over 18 years in her home, sitting for over 100 different children during that time. Evelyn also worked as a Nursing Assistant at City Hospital (now Berkeley Medical Center) for over 20 years.

Evelyn is survived by one son, Doug Jones and his wife, Penny of Bunker Hill; grandson, Justin Jones and his wife, Samantha and their son, Grady and daughter, Parker of Bunker Hill; granddaughter, Jennifer Loizos and her husband, Alex and their daughter, Erasmia of Falls Church, Virginia. Nothing made her smile more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Sweeney and her husband, Jack; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Evelyn will be laid to rest beside of her husband at Rosedale Cemetery. Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 1:30pm until the time of the service at 2:30pm conducted by Alex Loizos.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Bittorie, Ronnie Cook, Steve Reynolds, Randal Richards, Chris Loizos, and Randy Cook.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville for their care and devotion in making Evelyn’s last days as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
