EVANS, Ga - Dr. Tek Chand entered into rest on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018, in the Elliott Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Columbia Rd.
Dr. Chand was born in Hisar, India, on November 5, 1943. He moved to America to complete his doctoral degree in nuclear physics at the University of South Carolina. He was a professor of physics at Aiken Technical College. He expanded into the business world by starting a successful payroll processing service. He continued his business ventures for the next 30 years with restaurants and hotels. He was co-owner of Harvest Table Buffet and Sancho's Restaurant. His first motels were the Cardinal Motel and Cadles Motel on Deans Bridge Road. He continued to grow by building the Kings Inn, Econo Lodge, Comfort Inn, and Holiday Inn Express. He was a very generous and giving man, guiding many of his friends to become hoteliers as well. He always put his children first, making sure to provide every opportunity for their higher education.
He is survived by his children Rajeev and Aruna Singhal, Sanjeev and Meenu Singhal, and Sapna and Nirav Bhagat and six grand children Sagar, Diya, Savan, Roshan, Ravi and Kiran.
