James Walter Hughes

James was the loving husband of 50 years to Sandra Glass (Coffield) Hughes. James was a hardworking, honest, loving Father of three wonderful children and nine grand-children. He loved fishing, cars, and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Martinez Bible Chapel. He loved his job selling life Insurance for American General for 39 years.

His survivors include his loving wife, Sandra Hughes; children Carolyn (Billy) Denise Knight, James (Christy) Russell Hughes, Christopher (Heather) Paul Hughes; grandchildren, Owen, Colin, Dylan and Summer Hughes; and Justin, Kyle, Adam, Connor and Allison Hughes; and brother, Darrell Flanigan and brother-in- law, John Coffield and sister-in-law, Judy (Lee) Swift

James was preceded in death by his parents Lee Roy Hughes and Annie Mae Hughes, sister Patricia Hardy.

The family will receive friends 5 pm until 7 pm Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10 am Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pete Matthews, David Anderson, Matt Perkins, Jake Malpass, Rick Fawley and Sam Thomas will serve as pallbearers and Billy Knight and Owen Hughes.

The family would like to thank the staff at Georgia War Veteran’s Nursing Home for their compassionate care for James during his time there.
