Edward Alexander Weeks III

Edward Alexander Weeks III, 79, of Martinez, Georgia went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2018, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was cared for by his loving wife, Ilse, and passed away at home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on December 5, 1939 in Tullos, Louisiana. Edward served 20 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 2, and then continued his service by working in Civil Service for an additional 16 years. Edward loved spending time with his family, friends and his dogs. He played softball in his younger years, was an avid sports fan, enjoyed working in his yard and garden, and loved all animals. He was a member of the German Friendship Club, The Social Masonic Lodge No. , the American Legion Post 178, and a Sojourner in the Clarence H Cohen Chapter 162.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Theo Butler and Edward Alexander Weeks Jr.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Ilse Margarete, of 57 years; his daughters, Connie Kennedy (David), Jeanne Meeks, Sandra Dunham (James) ; his grandchildren, Ryan Kennedy, Courtney Kennedy, Karissa Dunham, Taylor Dunham and Baylie Dunham; and his sister, Dorothy Branlet (Ed).

Edward was a devout husband, father and grandfather. He was always an encourager of others and the biggest cheerleader for his family. He will truly be missed by all who knew him and love him.

Memorial Services with Military Honors will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home.
