He is survived by his loving wife, Marion, his son, C. David Markham. Jr. (Daphne), his daughter, Dana Charles (Brian) and four grandchildren who have given Chuck and his wife much love and joy – Ashlyn and Brady Markham and Jonathan and Olivia Charles.
Mr. Markham was born in Middlesboro, KY to the late Robert and Lelia Markham on November 3, 1940. He enlisted in the Navy upon graduating from high school in the new Nuclear Program. After completing his schooling and training, he volunteered for the submarines and served on the USS Skipjack, SSN 585, serving a total of 8 years in the Navy. After leaving the Navy, he worked for B&W in Lynchburg, VA and went to Lynchburg University full-time to earn a degree in Physics and Math. He then went to Westinghouse Corp. and worked as the site manager at the Marble Hill Nuclear Power Plant in Indiana then transferred to Plant Vogel. Upon Vogel’s completion he transferred to SRS in South Carolina and worked there until his retirement.
A memorial service will be held May 25th at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel with a visitation beginning at 11 am. The service will follow at 12 pm with burial at the Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel To Towers Foundation at T2T.org.
