Jane Sylvia Clarke

On March 11, 2024, Jane Pickett Clarke of Glenwood, MD, beloved wife of the late Alan Greene Clarke, married for 67 years. She was also the devoted mother of Jan Clarke Bauer (Wayne) of Baltimore, MD, Judy Clarke Kopp (Brent) of Middletown, MD, and Paul Alan Clarke (Meredith) of Austin TX. She was a cherished grandmother of Holly Costanzo (Sam), Megan Pawtowski, Kyle Blair, Lindsay Blair Hoffman, Ryan Blair, Caedan Clarke, Liam Clarke, and Sean Clarke. She is also an adoring great-grandmother to Adalyn Hoffman, London Hoffman, and Mckenzie Costanzo.

Jane grew up in District Heights, MD. She is a graduate of Capital City Nursing school, where she worked as an RN at DC General Hospital for 11 years. After she married Alan, they moved to the Washington suburb of Lanham, MD, where the young family lived on Finns Lane until 1978. Their next move was to Glenwood in Howard County, where Jane was very active in her community. She was president for many years of the Glenelg Club, a benevolent and social club that had monthly meetings and fundraisers for local causes. She was known for her crazy sense of humor and strong personality, but was always ready to step in to help in a time of need. Scores of people counted her as one of their best friends, and there are many family legends of gatherings at her house.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Glenelg United Methodist Church in Glenelg, MD.
