Lelia Marie Simoneaux Volpi passed away peacefully on Wednesday Evening, May 21, 2014. She was 81 years old. Beloved wife of the late Anthony Joseph Volpi of 40 years. Mother of Randall Volpi (Nicole), Steve Abadie and the late Toni Ann Volpi-Kientz. Grandmother of Becky Knox, Anthony Kientz, Jonathan DeHarde, and Steve Volpi. Great-Grandmother of Brooke Knox. Sister of Roselus “Pete” Simoneaux (Joyce), Ira “Hotsy” Simoneaux (Daisy), Nolan Simoneaux (Lula), Betty Camardelle (the late Jeffery), Mary Eve Jones (Clarence), and the late Lula May Collura (Mike), Lester Pierre Simoneaux (the late Belle), and Wilfred Simoneaux Jr. (Joycelyn). Daughter of the late Wilfred J. and Sidonia Simoneaux. Also survived by her loving niece, Myra Collura Rogers (David), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives into a fourth generation. She was a resident of Westwego for the majority of her life, and retired as a clerk from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development after 18 years of service. She was a parishioner of Holy Guardian of Angels, and a member of Holy Guardian of Angels Rosary Group and Women’s Club, and the Golden Agers. She will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched. Relatives and Friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass from OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR, 146 Fourth Street, Westwego, on Monday Afternoon, May 26, 2014 at 3:00. Visitation will begin at 2:00 in church. Interment will be private. The family wishes to express their most sincere gratitude to the caring staff of Total Home Health, Heart of Hospice, and River Region Hospice.
