John Fred Phillips

He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Sylve Phillips; son of the late Fred Phillips and Anna Mae Phillips; brother of Dwight Reyes Sr. (Theresa), Roland Phillips (Marsha), Donnie Phillips, Sheila Machado (Reed), Connie Bernich (John), Myrtle Phillips (Norris) and his adopted brother, Kelly Frederick, as well as the late Raymond Reyes (Betty), Ronald Phillips, Alice Eastman (Roger), and Mona Bergeron (Dickie). He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He will be remembered as a gifted mechanic, skillful captain, prolific fisherman, and all around good guy. He did love a good argument. Most importantly, he loved the people around him with all of his heart.

A funeral service will be held at Life Tabernacle Church on Grand Bayou on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, and continue at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service.
