Joe Springer

Joe Springer passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the age of 68. He was the beloved husband of the late Toni Springer for 32 years. Father of Tammi Springer, Misty M. Bourgeois (Troy), John Matherne Jr. (Tyri), and the late Codi Springer. He has also been the guardian and surrogate father of Mackenzie Lepine since her mother Codi's death. Grandfather of Mya Brown, Jason Rivers Jr., Tailia Romano, Abby Bourgeois, Veronica Bourgeois, Cameron Barahona, Gage Matherne, and Grace Matherne. Son of the late Eli and Savina Matthiew. Brother of the late Sandra and Tommy Bagur. Brother in law of Bobby Boffone (Susan), Randy Boffone (Darlene), and Michael Margiotta (Crissy) as well as the late Russell Boffone, Alfred C. Boffone, Jr. (Pamela), and Howard Boffone. He was also survived by numerous other relatives, and friends.

Joe was a native of New Orleans and moved to the Westbank in the early 80's. He began working at The Cobblers Bench, a shoe repair shop, in 1974 and became the proud owner of Joe's Cobblers Workbench in 1996. Joe and Toni were members of the Good Time Jamaica Club were they loved to dance. He also was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Joe never met a stranger. Wherever he went, he would leave with a new friend. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and continue from 9:00 AM until the Mass. Interment will be in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale.
