Frances ”Betty” Angelina Cortez Leonard entered peacefully into heaven on Sunday, February 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. A loving mother of Amanda Cortez and Scott Michael Leonard. A proud grandmother of Brandon Joseph Cortez (Annalisa Morrison) and great grandmother of Brianna Michelle Cortez and Ayden Keith Cortez. Daughter of the late Frances Angrisano Cortez and Elmo Cortez, Sr. Sister of Claudia Cortez Badeaux (Steven), Elmo “Sonny” Cortez, Jr. (Terri), Phyllis Cortez Blankenship(the late Mark) and the late Michael Joseph Cortez.
Age 71, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a lifelong resident of Harvey, Louisiana.
“Betty” worked as a laborer in the shrimp factory and also cashier at A & G Cafeteria in Gretna, LA. She enjoyed needle point, reading books, crossword puzzles, and mainly spending quality time with her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Rosalie Catholic Church, 600 Second Ave., Harvey, LA 70058 on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 am.
