Alphonse Simon Hebert, Jr. passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born on February 11, 1931 in Wadesboro, Louisiana to the late Alphonse and Athenia Bayhi Hebert. Devoted and loving husband of 71 years to Joyce Gregory Hebert. Loving father of Marshall Hebert (Diane), Michele Sullivan (Jack), Gary Hebert (Shera “Sam”) and Jacqueline Parkhurst (Bruce). Proud grandfather of Melanie (Craig), Craig, Scott, Jeffrey, Andrew (Macie), Connor, Joshua and Paul (Courtney) and great-grandfather of Alexander Hawk, Gracyn, Jacob, Roman and Camden. Brother of the late Alwyn Hebert and Alton Hebert. Alphonse is also survived by many other extended family and friends.
Alphonse dedicated his life to his wife, family and serving the Lord. Alphonse loved to entertain everyone with his “Paw Paw” jokes and spending time with his family. He was known as the family ping-pong champion.
Alphonse was a Second Lieutenant in the National Guard Reserves, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lafitte Yacht Club. He also served on the Our Lady of Prompt Succor PTA, the finance committee, bookkeeper and was also a Eucharistic Minister. Alphonse was an accountant for Southern Shell Fish Company for over 30 years. He also worked as The City of Westwego Clerk and other additional entities.
He was the recipient of the Order of St. Louis Medallion and won the PBX Boss of the Year award.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero. Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 PM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 146 4th St in Westwego. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in Westwego.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Alzheimer’s Association or a Memorial mass.
