James "Kenneth" Easter, age 83, passed away Saturday, February 18th, 2017, at his home in Marlin, following a brief illness. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21st, 6:00 - 8:00pm, at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin. His service will be held Wednesday, February 22nd, at 1:00pm, also at Adams.
Kenneth was born September 13, 1933, in the Criswell Community of Limestone County to James Edgar Easter and Edith (Webb) Easter. He grew up in Marlin and graduated from Marlin High School in 1953. After being drafted into the Navy in 1955 and serving aboard the USS Vesuvius (AE-15), he returned home and began his autobody career, opening his own business on Commerce Street in Marlin next to his father's garage in the mid 1960's.
Kenneth loved to garden and was quite proud of his azaleas. Many will remember him as their Scoutmaster, where he served Boy Scout Troop 553 in Marlin for a number of years. Friends and family will possibly remember him most for his habit of picking at you. You knew if you were being teased, you were loved.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Loretta (Baker) Easter; daughter Lisa (Mike) Dragoo of Robinson, sons Ronnie Easter and Donnie Easter of Temple; grandchildren Eric Griffin of Marlin, and Kyle and Reis Griffin of Robinson; step-grandchildren Tania (Dragoo) Baker and husband John of Midlothian, and Michael Dragoo of Marlin; great-grandchild Hayden Griffin of Cego and step-great-grandchild Troy Baker of Midlothian; siblings LaNell Smith of Warren, OH, and David Easter of Marlin, and Gloria (Billy) Briggs of Marlin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to one's favorite charity.
