2 P.M. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Marlin, TX with the Dr. Holly Mitchell and Judge Robert Stem officiating. Burial will be at the Fort Parker Cemetery in Groesbeck, TX.
Jack was born April 11, 1928 in Groesbeck to Jack Dixon and Ann Louise Bauer Welch. Jack married Dimple Sue Williford in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. Jack was a proud witness of the Atomic Bomb testing in Nevada. He was a State Representative in 1955 and 1957. Jack also represented The Texas Retailers Association as an Attorney for 35 years.
In later years he remained a “yellow dog Democrat”, political activist, and founded the Interruption Society.
Survivors include his wife, Dimple Welch of Marlin, sons, Jack Dixon Welch, III of Berlin, Germany and William James Welch of Waco, Texas; daughter, Sally Ann Black of Marlin; brother, Howard Lee Smith of Marlin; grandchildren, Betsy Burnett, Will Butler, Rachel Rudloff and great-granddaughter, Allie Rudloff.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Samaritan House 154 Live Oak, Marlin, TX 76661.
