Hugh T. Hay, 88, of Marlin passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 in a local nursing home. A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin with Dr. James Bryan officiating.
Mr. Hay was born on December 17, 1925 in Eddy to Lester O. and Lanella (Thompson) Hay. The family moved to Marlin when he was 6. He retired from the VA Hospital in Marlin. After retirement he was engaged in ranching. Mr. Hay was a member of the Masonic Lodge #152 in Marlin for over 50 years and the First Baptist Church. He looked forward to the annual Hay reunion each year in Salado and visiting with the Thompson clan in Troy. Mr. Hay was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his wife, Margaret Ann Tate Hay.
Survivors include his son, Scott Hay of Marlin, his daughter, Ann Rekieta and husband, James of Reagan, three grandsons, Nathan Hay and wife, Kim of Marlin, Justin Hay of Marlin and Dr. Jonathan Rekieta and wife, Megan of Houston.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Golden Years Nursing Home for their wonderful and compassionate care the last seven years.
