Grady L. Reed, Jr.

Grady Lee Reed, Jr. passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 15th at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas with the Reverend Donnie Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8p.m. on Tuesday, April 14th.

Grady (Nooks) was born August 14, 1933 in Marlin to Grady L. Reed, Sr. and Carrie Pauline Reed. He attended McClanahan and Marlin schools. As a young adult he worked on the family farm. He joined the U.S. Army and served until 1955.Upon his honorable discharge; he married Rosemary Clifton and in union four children were born. He was self-employed for many years in the home remodeling and construction business. He worked at Ralph Wilson Plastic Co. in Temple, Texas where he retired after 27 years of employment.

His enjoyments included remodeling and managing rental property, dancing, and maintaining the McClanahan church and cemetery grounds. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father. Survivors include his sister; Wardine Sanders, children; Grady U. Reed, Rocky L. Reed and wife Christi, Kelly Reed and companion Jerry Rosas of Marlin, Thomas Reed and wife Denise of White House, Texas. Grandchildren include Crystal Reed, Lindsey Reed, Kristen Reed Porterfield, Cara Reed Kasner, Nicholas Reed, and Madison Reed. There are sixteen great-grandchildren, and nephew Robert Reed Sanders. Special friend is Margaret Blackburn of Robinson.

Pallbearers include Nicholas Reed, Max (M.J.) Smith, Randy Kasner, Jerry Rosas, Shane Porterfield, Craig Evans, and Robert Sanders.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers, daughter-in-law Christi Reed who gave endless hours to his extended care, Eric Nutt, Rosinal Hughes, Dr. David Fedro, and Standard Home Health/Hospice.
