Alma J. Herwald, age 91, of Marlin, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Alma was born in Cedar Springs, Texas to Fred and Ruby (Sprayberry) Reeves, the youngest of three children.
Alma married Charlie Edward Herwald, October 14, 1950 in Marlin, Texas at the age of seventeen. They enjoyed fifty two years of marriage until Charlie’s death in March 2003. Alma worked for Safeway for 28 years and 5 years at the locally owned Super Mart before retiring.
She enjoyed gardening, clay modeling and writing poems. Her poem, “The Face of God’ was published in "American Poetry” in 1983.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lonnie Reeves, sister Ruby Mae Edwards and husband Charlie Herwald. She is survived by her son Gary Herwald and wife Sharon of Marlin, granddaughter Christina Craig and husband Dustin of Lorena, grandson Ryan Herwald and spouse Melody of Waco, grandson Adam Herwald of Marlin and numerous nieces and nephews.
