Betty J. McCune, 91 of Markle passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at her residence. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Roann High School. She was a farm wife, farming with her husband, Wayne. Betty loved flowers, gardening, puzzles and nature. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed her dog, Stinker.
Betty was born on December 31, 1928 in Wabash, Indiana, the daughter of William E. and Edith L. (Freshour) Bechtold.
She was united in marriage to Cecil “Wayne” McCune on February 6, 1953 in Wabash County. Wayne preceded her in death on November 27, 2006.
Survivors include seven sons: Kenneth McCune, Robert McCune both of Markle; Paul McCune of Sparta, TN; Clifford McCune of Markle, Daniel McCune of Huntington; Dale McCune of Markle; Steve McCune of Ossian; eight daughters: Mrs. Richard (Sandra) Kaehr of Bluffton; Barbara Neuhauser of Markle; Mrs. Randy (Bonnie) Ramseyer of Circleville, OH; Mrs. Randy (Brinda) Griffith of Liberty Center; Mrs. Patrick (Evelyn) Karst of Markle; Mrs. Glen (Pamela) Anstett of Uniondale; Peggy McCune of Whitley County; Mrs. Eric (Julia) Wright of Markle; four brothers: Melvin Bechtold of Columbia City; Tom Bechtold of North Manchester; Terry Bechtold of Urbana; Larry Bechtold of North Manchester; a sister: Shelby Near of North Manchester; 35 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by two grandsons: James Kaehr, James McCune; a son-in-law: Tom Neuhauser, a great granddaughter: Mayleigh Bennett; a sister: Opal McColley and five brothers: Max Bechtold, Jerry Bechtold, Billy Bechtold, Donald Bechtold and Dick Bechtold.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 10:30 am, there will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Rev. Dwight Fishburn officiating.
Interment will be at the Horeb Cemetery in Uniondale.
