Mrs. Sara Marie Lane

She was born on August 22, 1923 in Yancey County to the late Bryan and Dora Effler Wilson. She worked as a spinner in the textile industry for many years. She was a member of the Redeemed Freewill Baptist Church. Sara enjoyed cooking and canning. She liked working outside, shopping and will be remembered for loving everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Bonnie Loftis, Frances Ballew, Martha Wilson, Pearl Pirrwitz, Minnie Whisnant and Dovie Laughridge.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Reverend James Logan Lane of Marion; two brothers, Jack Wilson, wife Mildred, and Jerry Wilson; four sisters, Edith Lloyd, Evelyn Alberts, Wilma Szabo and Elizabeth Nichols; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry McClain and Reverend Tommy Hensley officiating. Interment will follow the service in the McDowell Memorial Park.

Flowers will be appreciated, but memorials can be made to Hospice of McDowell County.
