Myrtle Smith Craig

Mrs. Craig was born Februry 1, 1923 to William (Will) and Mary lee Smith in Spruce Pine, NC. She married Jay Willis and had four children together. She retired from Marion Manufacturing and started her own home canning business, Myrtle’s Country Kitchen. She was known for her pickled products, jams, and jellies. She worked both at home and Jamestown Flea Market for 15 years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Craig was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Lee Willis, two sisters, Frances Allison and Inez Stamey; three brothers, Albert Smith, Charles Smith, and Andrew Smith. Left to cherish Mrs. Craig’s memory are one brother, Edward (Ed) Smith; three children, James Boyd (JB) Willis and wife Sylvia, Celia Duncan, and Scotty Willis and wife Susan.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion from 10 to 11 AM. Mrs. Craig will be laid to rest in McDowell Memorial Park.
