She was born September 20, 1914 in Rutherford County, NC to the late David Daniel Mosteller and Annie Mae Ingle Mosteller. Granny attended Nebo Baptist Church and she retired at the age of 75 from Carolina Shoe after 25 years of service. She loved helping others and was a good caregiver and a hard worker. Granny also was an avid gardener and loved her flowers.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Carranze “Bear” Barrier; her son, David Barrier; her son-in-law, Joe Craig; one sister; and three brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Manley R. Barrier and wife, Mae of Morganton and Finley S. Barrier, Sr. and wife, Cathy of West Marion; two daughters, Lucille Craig of Nebo and Mary Ann Carter and husband, Wylie of Old Fort; one daughter-in-law, Bertha M. Barrier of Morganton; ten grandchildren, Margaret Villalpando, Beary Craig, Kenneth Barrier, Danielle Barrier, Finley S. Barrier, Jr., Janis Causby, Robert Bryant, Larry Bryant, Anna Bradley and Sandra Scalese; a number of great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Mosteller and Vivian Alderman; special friends, James and Phyllis Deaton of Burke County; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Nebo Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Worley and Granny’s Deacon and best friend, Bobby Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
