Mary Jane Tabb of Fort Washington, MD passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019 after a loving weekend with her son, daughter-in-law, three grandsons, and many dear friends. She was born in Stone Mountain, GA to Florida Mae and Thomas Blake. She is a graduate of Leavittsburg High School, and attended classes at Cleveland State University, graduating from Youngstown University. For many years she served as a substitute elementary school teacher in Maryland, but her ultimate joy in life was caring for her family and maintaining a beautiful home with her loving
husband. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, dancing, and traveling the world. Her passion for people made her a faithful member of the 19th Street Baptist Church Helping Hands Club, the Andrews AFB Wives Club, the Chesapeake Jazz Society, and many other social organizations.
Mary Jane was dearly beloved by her husband of 26 years, Major Eldridge L. Tabb, USA (Ret.) (1988) and her son, Michael E. Tabb. She is survived by a loving daughter-in- law, Davilyn, three grandsons, Michael Jr., Nicholas, and Christian, and many loving nieces and nephews. Mary also had a deep and special love for her brothers, James (2001) and Rueben Blake (2003), and nephew, Vincent Blake. She cherished her sisterhood friendships with Marie Cameron, Judie DeWald, Mimi Wu (2018), Clemmie Saxton, and Mary Johnson.
The family would also like to especially thank Dr. Myron Hall, the Sweet Family, and the Sunrise Assisted Living team for their compassion and kindness. In July, the family invites you to join them in Washington, DC for Mrs. Tabb’s interment with her husband, Eldridge, at Arlington National Cemetery. Once scheduled, the exact date and time will be relayed to you.
