Jimmy grew up with his sister Jean in Atlanta, Ga wanting to be a cowboy. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1966 as a member of the JROTC Rifle Team. While serving as a highly dedicated US Postman, Jimmy raised his sons in Acworth, Ga, spent cherished time with family on holidays and summer vacations, and visited and cared for his mother and father in Cabbagetown in Atlanta. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, and spent as much free time as possible Metal Detecting, his favorite hobby. As his sons grew up, Jimmy helped them attend college, watched them begin professional jobs, and eventually welcomed his first grandchild in 2002. Over the years he loved time with his dogs Fifi, Sissy, Blackeyes, Boomer, and Cisco. Jimmy also thoroughly enjoyed going to Six Flags and White Water with his family, watching television, movies, baseball, and football with his sons. More than anything, Jimmy loved time at the lake and the beach searching for treasure.
After 40 plus years living at 6520 Windsor Drive in Acworth, GA near lake Allatoona, Jimmy and Linda moved into Discovery Village Assisted Living in Suwanee, Ga. After 51 years of marriage, he lost his wife Linda to ALS on July 14, 2020.
