Jean Hill Johnson, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday the 11th of January 2014 in Marietta, GA. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She courageously fought cancer for 33 years. She was born March 30, 1929 in College Park, GA. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1973 where she lived for 36 years. She was an active volunteer in the Greenwood Forest Garden and Women’s clubs as well as the Northwest Houston Cancer support group when she lived in Houston. She moved to the Parc at Piedmont independent living facility in 2009 and quickly became active in the Residents Association. Her smiling face and loving hugs will be missed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Johnson and granddaughter, Melissa S. Barrett, and sister, Lavinia H. Bush. She is survived by daughters, Teresa Barrett and her husband Steve, and Kay Iandoli and her husband Joe; granddaughter, Mandy Berrell and her husband Matt; and great-grandchildren, Charlie and Adelyn. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Mary Akins and nieces, nephews, and cousins. A celebration of life will be held at 11 o’clock a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to service starting at 10 o’clock a.m. The burial will be at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston, Texas on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:00 o’clock a.m. H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Directors, Canton Hill Chapel is honored to be handling her arrangement.
