Harold Eugene Wood

Gene, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on January 9th, 1942, to Solan Tobias and Ada Grace (Hinshaw) Wood in Providence, NC. After high school, Gene served in the Air Force and then graduated from Gulf Coast Community College. He started working for IBM in 1968 after his Air Force service concluded. Gene stayed with IBM until he retired in 1994.

Gene’s greatest passion was restoring antique cars, and the 1957 Ford Thunderbird was his car of choice. Gene and Debbie have some of their fondest memories from the T-Bird Club with their closest friends.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Richard, Samuel, Dorothy, Bascom, and Gary.

Gene is survived by his wife, Deborah (Debbie) Wood, his children, Amanda (Robie) York, Ashley (Todd) Vislusky, Zachary (Jaclyn) Wood, his grandchildren, Carson and Carrie Grace York, Taylor and Crew Vislusky, and Charlie and Dean Wood, and his brother, Ralph Wood.

A funeral service will be 12 PM Monday, December 9, 2024 in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with Rev. Joe Buckner officiating. Burial will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
