Frank graduated from George Wythe High School in Richmond. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master’s degree in Physics at Wake Forest University, and a Doctorate degree in Materials Science at the University of Virginia.
Frank worked in the paper industry for forty years at Kimberly Clark in Neenah, Wisconsin and at Georgia-Pacific Corporation in Atlanta. After retiring from GP, Frank spent several years as the Associate Director of the Institute for Paper Science and Technology at Georgia Tech. He is a member of multiple professional organizations and is a listed inventor on many patents.
Frank is survived by his wife Barbara and two daughters, Lynn Michelle Murray of Atlanta and Leigh Ann Murray of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by his brother H. Spencer Murray of Franktown, VA, and sisters Irene Garcia of Detroit, Jean Morrison of Tucson, Mary Stratton of Greenville, SC and Laura Brubaker of Silver Springs, MD, along with many nieces and nephews and their children.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Hospital Midtown or the Atlanta Hospice Center.
An informal memorial service will be held at 3:00 on Saturday at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Road in Marietta.
