Elaine was born in Macon, GA to the large and loving family of her parents, Clara and Franklin. She attended AL Miller High School for Girls in Macon, and then was fortunate to receive a teaching degree from Georgia Southern University. Upon completing college, Elaine, with the help of her eldest brother, attained a position of a second grade teacher in the City of Roswell’s school system. This moved her from Macon, to the Atlanta area in 1964, where she met her loving husband Jack, while playing bridge at a church function. This began Jack and Elaine’s life long love of playing cards - which they played everyday together until Jack’s passing. Elaine not only loved to play cards with Jack, but she spent much of her years playing with several groups of women who were her dearest of friends. She was very involved with organizing family reunions and was a member/organizer of several groups/clubs over the years.
Elaine also enjoyed traveling, nature/gardening, picnicking, photography, cooking (special things for special people) and yes, more card playing! But the thing Elaine enjoyed the most was her 3 wonderful granddaughters - for which she loved to spend time with and to brag about!! For Elaine, her family and friends were so important, and she would always go above and beyond to help them, comfort them and celebrate them - She truly was a selfless friend, sister, daughter, niece, aunt, mother and grandmother!! We will miss her more than words can express!!
Elaine leaves behind daughter, Amy; Son-in-Law, Tom; her beloved granddaughters, Lauren, Audrey and Kaylin; sister Neil; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other family members which she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Elaine's honor at the charity of your choosing - something that is close to your heart.
If you do not have one, a donation to either a Parkinson's Foundation/Fund/Research (which mother had been diagnosed with) or Leukemia Foundation/Fund/Research (which was what dad had) would be great options.
A Celebration of Life Luncheon/Picnic will be held sometime the weekend of October 21st (exact date/time TBD) in the Marietta, GA vicinity. Please check back here for details, it will be updated as soon as the arrangements have been settled.
