He leaves his wife, Suk Shin; his stepson, Jonathan; his sister Patti
Ireton; and brothers Mike and Brad Stewart. Doug was born on
October 16,1948 in Provo, Utah to Henry and Elaine Stewart.
As a teen, Doug attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of
America. After graduating from Provo High School, Doug
attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, receiving a
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 1972.
Over the next 12 years, Doug was the top Mountain
Experience Instructor and Guide at the Snowbird Ski area.
While instructing, Doug met and befriended the CEO of
Pfizer Pharmaceutical who later recruited Doug to work under him.
Doug loved spending time in the mountains and was an avid
outdoorsman. He enjoyed skiing, hiking, and camping among many
other things. He had an absolute love for automobiles and airplane gliding.
He was also a fixer of all things mechanical. After Doug was transferred to
Atlanta for work, he met Suk. They quickly fell in love and married
in June of 1999.
He was a man who had enough adventures to fill a dozen lifetimes.
QUOTE:
"I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than
a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time."
