Ariel Vincent Conlin, age 95, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Ariel was born on March 14, 1928 and was a long time Atlanta resident, moving here as a teenager. He graduated from Boy's High in Atlanta and he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Georgia School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1953. Ariel was a JAG officer in the U.S. Army at Ft. Benning. Thereafter, he returned to Atlanta and was a law clerk for Fulton County Superior Court Judge Luther Alverson. Ariel then became a Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia, under Governor Ernest Vandiver. Ariel spent the majority of his legal career as a solo practitioner in Atlanta. Ariel loved being a lawyer and his daughter and granddaughter followed in his footsteps.
Ariel married Sally Lou Dickert Conlin in 1950. They raised their children in Sandy Springs, then remodeled his mother's house in Inman Park, where they lived many years. They retired to Cartersville, Georgia, and moved to Marietta to be near their daughter in recent years.
Preceding Ariel in death were his parents, Lurena and Loyal Conlin, and his daughter, Julia Jane Conlin Cole.
Ariel is survived by his wife, Sally Lou Dickert Conlin; his daughter, Sally Elizabeth Conlin Gary (Bart); his grandchildren: Laura Elisabeth Ashby (Michael), Scott Conlin Gary, and Lawrence Andrew Cole, Jr.; and great grandson Ryan Gary Ashby.
