Ruby May Amritt

Ruby is survived by her children, Carl Wayne Amritt, Phillip Amritt, Richard Amritt, Donovan Amritt, Stanford Amritt Jr., and Camille P. Amritt-Lall. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanford Amritt Sr.

Ruby Amritt was born on June 24th, 1941 in Water Lane, Clarendon, Jamaica, to parents Albert and Roslyn Gidarisingh. She graduated from Race Course Secondary School in Race Course, Clarendon, Jamaica.

Ruby then attended a homemaking class where she developed & perfected the skill of sewing. This was one of her many hobbies. She also enjoyed competing crossword puzzles and watching day time television shows.

Ruby was a nurturing individual and a loving mother. She married Stanford Amritt Sr. on June 19th, 1960 in Clarendon, Jamaica and the couple had 6 children together.

After migrating to the US in the 80’s she worked as a caregiver and companion to the elderly. Her nurturing and caring spirit gave her great satisfaction of providing care to those she cared for.

Ruby was a caring and active woman who was deeply involved in her church both in Jamaica and the US for the majority of her life. She enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Her family and friends will always remember her as a humble, loving, thoughtful and kind person.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, March 11th at 11am, at Merrell United Methodist Church with a repast to follow at Merrell United Ragsdale Hall. Pastor Bancroft Williams will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruby Amritt’s life. The family would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming love and support during their time of sorrow.
