Janis Bonvino

Janis attended parochial schools and graduated from Johnstown Public High School in upstate New York. Following high school, she completed two years of business school. Janis was an accomplished pianist and played with the Detroit Symphony at Interlochen at 11 years of age. She continued to bring her love of music to life, when she later went on to become the musical director for an amateur theater group.

Janis worked for more than 40 years in the legal profession, starting as a legal secretary, and then continuing to climb the ladder into the roles of paralegal and then legal administrator. She was elected to serve as President of the Nutmeg Chapter of Legal Administrators in New England. She taught paralegal courses at Yale University and at the University of Connecticut alongside distinguished attorneys.

Janis was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in the St. Andrew Golf Tournament. She was an enthusiastic duplicate bridge player, achieving the rank of Bronze Life Master. She was known for her witty sense of humor and her gourmet culinary skills, among others. Janis is survived by her beloved husband Vincent, of 53 years, her two sons Scott and Chris, their wives Anna and Trish, grandchildren Cari, Tyler, Gabriela, Bianca, and Valerie, her several great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Bonnie, and many nephews and nieces.

She was an extremely active member of St. Andrew Parish. Janis taught religious education classes for many years under the leadership of Mary Doris. Janis was a member of Women's Emmaus, Women's Council, President of the Church Council, a Eucharistic Minister at the 9:30am mass, and she worked for a time in the Church offices.

Janis, you were one of a kind and will remain in our minds and hearts forever. What an excellent example you are of how to live life, love, and die with dignity. We love you forever.
