He was born and raised in New York City, the son of Paul and Alice (nee O’Brien) Brennan. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force and was Honorably discharged. He met and married his wife, Barbara (nee O’Neill) Brennan, and they were blessed with 66 years of marriage and three children, Bill Jr, Maureen, and Gerard.
Bill had a long and successful career in the Telecom business, holding positions of increasing responsibility before retiring as Vice President of Operations from Sprint in Ohio.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family very much. He was also proud to be a veteran and loved his country. Bill and Barbara moved to Marco in 1997 and have loved the Island life. They often hosted their kids and grandkids building wonderful memories. Bill and Barbara traveled in retirement together and with friends experiencing river cruises, cruise ships and land tours.
Bill was a long-standing member of San Marco Catholic Church, the Marco Men’s Club, American Legion and Knights of Columbus. An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his long life. Additionally, he spent many years boating with the Marco Cruise Club. He shared his passion for these activities with his children and grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his son Bill Jr. (Mary) Brennan and daughter Maureen (Mike) McDonnell. He is also survived by six grandchildren Timothy (Megan) McDonnell, William (Audrey) Brennan, Kathleen (JaVon) Williams, Sean (Caroline) Brennan, Megan Brennan, and Kevin McDonnell, as well as nine great grandchildren and many loved nieces, nephews. He was predeceased in death by his father, Paul Brennan, his mother, Alice Brennan, his sister, Eileen Boyd, his sister-in-law, Maureen O’Reilly and his son, Gerard Brennan.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in his honor at San Marco Catholic Church, Marco Island, FL on Friday January 26, 2024, at 11:00 am.
