Patricia Kathleen Woerner, age 75 of Bloomington, MN, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at her winter home in Naples, FL on December 29, 2023, with her family at her side. Trish courageously battled breast cancer for fifteen years with optimism, positivity, grace, and deep faith.
Trish was born on April 10, 1948, to Robert and Kathleen (Madigan) Dunn, grew up in Mt Vernon, IL and graduated with Mt Vernon Township High School’s class of 1966. She followed her passion for teaching leading to a bachelor’s degree in education from Southern Illinois University. Trish then taught at elementary schools in Mt Vernon, Mt Carmel, and Niles, IL. She married James A Woerner on July 26, 1975, in Morton, IL. They resided in Des Plaines, IL where their first child Patrick was born. Soon after they moved to Bloomington, MN where the family grew with birth of their daughter Kathleen. Trish provided notable support to Jim’s business career which included family relocations to Chesterfield, MO and later returning to Bloomington, MN. The role Trish relished the most was as mother to Patrick and Kathleen and was deeply involved in their school and extra-curricular activities.
After Jim’s retirement, they divided their time between Bloomington, MN, cabin life in Lakeshore, MN, and winters in Naples, FL. Trish thoroughly enjoyed being able to make so many special friends in all the locations she made a home. Additionally, Trish enjoyed being able to travel Europe several times and other travels domestically. Trish found joy in various other interests including golfing, playing cards, reading, and shopping for her special style. All of her endeavors were done with a zest for life and best enjoyed as a shared experience with family or friends. Trish loved to socialize, took a genuine interest in others, made natural connections with a wide network of friends, and was known for her dignity and class.
Trish was a proud grandmother to her four grandchildren, forming a special and individual bond with each one of them. She enthusiastically kept pace with their many activities, teaching card games and being an example for having a meaningful relationship with God.
She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jim; one son Patrick (Katti) Woerner and their two sons Kyle and Sean of Minnetonka, MN; one daughter Kathleen (Kent) Krager and their two children Madeline and Ryan of Overland Park, KS. She also leaves one sister, Helena Spielman of The Woodlands, TX.
Trish’s family wishes to thank all of her friends for the love, support, and prayers shown to Trish over the years as she moves on to be with the Lord. We also appreciate the extraordinary care and support from the doctors and medical teams of Dr Brenda Larson (Park Nicollet, St Louis Park, MN) and Dr Andrew Lipman (Florida Oncology Specialists, Naples, FL) while she bravely fought her cancer.
Patricia Kathleen Woerner touched the lives of many through her kindness, grace, and unwavering love. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
