Patricia Anne Schultz

She was born in May 1945 in Chicago and grew up in the Bucktown neighborhood. After graduating from St. Hedwig, she went on to earn degrees from both Oakton Community College and DePaul University. Pat spent her career in the travel industry. She loved exploring the world and bringing the world to others. She was a travel and tourism instructor at Northwestern Business College in Chicago for almost 30 years. She was a passionate educator and mentor to many, helping students define and realize their potential.

Pat was married to her loving husband, Jim Schultz, for over 51 years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and was an avid gardener. The beach was Pat’s place of joy and she loved to collect shells and other ocean treasures. She enjoyed volunteering at the Marco Island Shell Club. Theater was an important part of her life and she was a long-time volunteer usher at both Chicago and Naples’ theaters. Children brought Pat great joy and she was a loving volunteer for many years at the Open Arms Child Development Center in Glenview, Illinois.

Pat was an unwavering Chicago Bears fan and also cheered on her adopted Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As a proud feminist, she was a lifelong activist promoting equality and justice. One of the greatest joys of her life was the special relationship she held with her beloved granddaughters. She was incredibly proud of her eldest granddaughter, Sophia (her Zosha), and watching her to develop into an accomplished swimmer and vocalist. Pat also immensely enjoyed sharing time and laughter with her youngest granddaughter, Valerie.

Pat is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughter, Caryn (Mike), her step-son, Jimmy (Becky), her granddaughters, Sophia and Valerie, her brother Tony (Pricilla), her best friend, Jinny and many cousins and members of her extended family.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either The Saints – Volunteers for the Performing Arts, The Naples Players, or NOW (National Organization for Women), all organizations that Pat was passionate about throughout her life.

Family was extremely important to her. Pat was deeply loved and will be missed greatly.
