Kathryn (Kay) Stinchcomb passed away peacefully at home on May 1st after a brief illness. Born March 25, 1952, in Bedford, Ohio to the late Melvin and Jodi Filipovic, Kay moved to Marco Island in 1974.
Many Islanders knew her as Miss Ohio (an honor she captured on her birthday just before moving here), and she was every bit of what that title bespoke - but she was also so much more: smart, funny, mischievous, and certainly beautiful - all wrapped around a tender and generous heart. If you've ever been lit by that 1000-watt smile, you know this. She was the perfect comrade to share riotous laughter with, but also the perfect shoulder to cry on.
To a whole legion of former students at the First Baptist Learning Center (now adults, some with children of their own), their former instructor has remained, and will always be, Miss Kay.
Above all, Kay's life was centered on her family: beloved husband Tim Stinchcomb; sons Tim Jr (Sasha) and Jarrett (Krista); and precious grandchildren, Samantha, Myla, Mason, and Maevryn. Kay is also survived by her sisters, Christine Ford and Debbie Gladwell, and their families. Our angel has flown, but will remain forever in our hearts.
There will be a gathering in her memory on Saturday, May 20, 12-3 pm, at Little Bar Restaurant in Goodland.
