September 10, 1947 in Pittsburg, California. She was a former resident of Cranston, RI where she
lived for 71 years.
Irene was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. Henry W. Sepe and the late Marie Josephine Porrazzo-
Sepe. Irene is survived by her devoted sister Ann Marie Sepe and brother-in-law Alfred J. Marchand, Jr
of Marco Island, Florida.
Irene was dedicated to her profession as an Educator and School Librarian at the Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr. School until her retirement. Irene was a Graduate of St. Mary’s Elementary School and
Cranston High School East. Irene achieved dual Baccalaureate Degrees in French and Italian from
Seton Hill College, a Graduate Degree in Education from Rhode Island College, and a Graduate
Degree in Library Science and Technology from the University of Rhode Island.
Irene’s was an avid reader. Her pastimes included reading, quilting, knitting and support for animal
welfare causes. Irene enjoyed extensive travel throughout Europe, the United States, the Caribbean,
British Commonwealth, and Canada with family and friends.
Irene will be remembered as quiet, gentle, patient, kind, and cherishing her family. She will be greatly
missed my her friends, relatives including her uncle, cousins and ex-husband Donald Hanson.
A memorial Mass will be held at San Marco Catholic Church, Marco Island, Florida, February 19, 2022
at 11:00 AM. A graveside memorial service will held at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston, Rhode Island,
May 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark’s Church, Cranston, Rhode
Island, May 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
