Betsy was a lover of life, who chose to live her life happy. She would often be heard singing to her dogs, children, and grandchildren, while dancing and laughing. She was a wonderful cook, and could be counted on to bring a new recipe she hadn't tried before to Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. She was an avid traveler, who enjoyed visiting countries around the world. Betsy loved flowers and plants, and would spend hours at the local nurseries, looking for the perfect addition to her large collection of plants, her favorites being her orchids, and her giant Staghorn fern.
She is survived by her three children, Julie Ross (Clay) of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Christopher Hinchee (Sarah) of Blythewood, South Carolina, and Ryan Ross (Ashley) of Charleston, South Carolina, her three grandchildren, Brianna Hinchee, Olivia Hinchee, and Dax Ross, and her three dogs, Macy, Teddi, and Annie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Hassie Shanklin, her brother, J. Robert Shanklin, and her loving husband, Stan Ross
A graveside service will be held at Marco Island Cemetery on Tuesday, December 21, at 11:30 AM.
