Alice T. Greco— treasured mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. While she is gone, her uncommon spirit, tenacity, faithfulness, and commitment to family will live on. Survived by her children Mark Greco, Marcia Kane, Paul Greco and wife Jennifer Greco. Also survived by eight loving grandchildren, their spouses and one great grandchild: Jenna Ciszon (Zach Ciszon), Jimmy Kane (Tory Kane), Kathleen Kane, Tara Kane, Marissa Lowrie (Michael Lowrie) Chris Greco (Mary Dell Deweese), Jack Greco, Caden Greco and Brooks Kane, her first great grandchild whom she was especially proud of and most recently spent a month with during her final days. Alice is already deeply missed by her family and friends, especially her sister-in-law, Joan Gies whom she spoke with daily.
Born in Girardville, Pennsylvania in 1930, Alice was determined to have a fulfilling life. She pursued her Nursing degree in Wilmington, Delaware, followed by a move to the Washington, DC area where she began her career at The National Institute of Health. She often spoke of these years recalling her good friends, co-workers, and doctors with upmost respect.
Alice met the love of her life and married, Dr. Raymond F. Greco, of Trenton, New Jersey in 1956. Together they created a family with three children and resided in Princeton, New Jersey. Married for 44 years until sadly Ray passed away with Alice at his side in 1999.
Alice and Ray welcomed all with open arms and doors that visited their homes in Kentmore Park, Maryland (off the Chesapeake Bay) and Marco Island, Florida, where Alice resided until she passed. The Greco’s feel blessed to have had homes for so many years where friends became family. The endless sunsets overlooking water, trays of lasagna and plenty of wine will be in their hearts and minds forever.
Alice was Irish, Ray was Italian and together they were a fierce and loving couple. Their passion for boating, sailing, travel and entertainment lives on in their children and grandchildren. Although a petite lady, Alice was strong, sassy, smart, tough, and carried herself with grace, style, and a huge heart. Her stories left everyone wanting more, especially her grandchildren! Her passion for sports, her knowledge of history, politics and current events kept conversations going for hours. Alice loved all animals, especially dogs and her Golden Retrievers who like her, were loyal and loving.
With Alice, we honor a long life lived, a spirit of fierce independence, a woman of courage who was grounded in her devotion to God and her family. Alice did everything in life her way and we loved her for that.
Funeral services and a small celebration of life took place at her Marco Island home on her favorite holiday, St. Patrick’s Day on March 17–with some of her family and friends enjoying her favorite corn beef and cabbage and lots of sweets! Another celebration honoring Alice will take place this summer on the Chesapeake Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity Alice supported for years, The Monastery of St. Clare. The sisters will be grateful for any support.
