Dr. Ronald J. Killiany

Born in Torrington, CT, Ron was the son of Andrew and Betty Ann Killiany, a dear brother to Thomas Killiany and Dianna Orth, uncle to Benjamin Killiany and a beloved brother in law to David Orth, Hank & Kathy Bonutti, Magda & Paul Szabo, Peter & Simone Bonutti, and Boris Bonutti as well as a treasured son-in-law to Karl Bonutti.

He grew up in Torrington, CT and Birmingham, MI, graduating from Seaholm High School in Birmingham MI and then attending John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH receiving his B.S. followed by a Master’s degree at University of Hartford and PhD from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Ron then began his post-doctoral professional career at Boston University School of Medicine where he spent 32 years teaching and providing leading research in neuropsychology, neuroimaging, and neuropathology, studying the human brain and focusing on dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. He was a steward to many, developing the next generation of scientists, dedicated to fostering their creativity and ingenuity, as they continue with this and other research. Ron collaborated with many researchers, not only within the Boston community, but nationally and globally as well. Additionally, Ron practiced clinically at Essex Neurological Associates as a Neuropsychologist, assisting the community of the North Shore of Boston in diagnosing those with dementia and helping them take the next steps of care.

He enjoyed time with family and friends, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, but mostly working with his hands renovating his home in historic Marblehead with exquisite details.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eustis & Cornell Marblehead, 142 Elm Street. A Funeral Mass for Ron will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead, MA with a reception to follow at The Landing Restaurant, 81 Front Street, Marblehead, MA.
