MARBLEHEAD – Paul Eugene Langan, age 82, of Marblehead, formerly of Swampscott, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 13th surrounded by his loving family at Beverly Hospital. Paul was the beloved husband of Linda Ann (Valpey) Langan, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Paul was born and educated in Swampscott, the son of the late Eugene F. and Mildred A. (Chaisson) Langan. He was the devoted father of Paula Burns and her husband, John of Swampscott, Elizabeth Wilson and her husband, Mark of Sudbury, Eric Langan and his wife, Lis of Swampscott and Eugene Langan and his wife, Kathleen of Hollis, NH; the cherished grandfather of Michael Burns and his wife, Melissa, Elizabeth Fitzgerald and her husband, Tim, Paul and Daniel Burns, Jennifer DeMello and her husband, Sean Callis, Isabel DeMello, Steven Wilson and his wife, Abby, Andrew Wilson and his wife, Lauren, and Michael Wilson, Amanda, Erin, Rikki, Eric, and Ryan Langan, John and Hannah Langan; the adoring great-grandfather of Cailyn, Payton, Cora, Kagan, Tyler, Jackson, Harrison, Leo, Sam, Thea, Henry, and Tyler; the dear brother of Patricia Duffy and her husband, Arthur of Barnstead, NH, Judith Martin of Marblehead, John Langan of Maine, and Jean Krajeski of Salem and her late husband Raymond Krajeski; the brother-in-law of Constance Deschenes of Marblehead and her late husband, Charles Edward Deschenes; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Paul attended St. John the Baptist High School in Swampscott and graduated from Swampscott High School with the Class of 1953. He went on to Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University and received his degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked for Sylvania, mostly in Salem and Danvers in Plant Engineering for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Paul coached in the Marblehead Youth Hockey League for many years. He loved attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events and watching New England Sports teams and everything outdoors, especially camping, boating and fishing off of Marblehead; and tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time and traveling with his entire family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm St., Marblehead. A Celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, August 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
