Lorraine was born at Salem Hospital on July 27, 1945, to the late Gertrude (Shirley) and Arthur April. The youngest of five girls, she was raised in Marblehead and attended Marblehead Schools (Class of 1963). Lorraine was a member of the National Honor Society and very involved with the High School Glee Club. As a teen Lorraine was very active within the St. Stephen’s Methodist Church as well as with their Youth Fellowship. She maintained her faith throughout her life, as it was always an important outlet for her.
After graduation, Lorraine attended Boston University (Class of 1965) and Salem State College (Class of 1968) earning a degree in Business Administration. She began her teaching career first at Marian Court College, then at Masconomet Regional High School, but ultimately went on to teach Business at North Shore Community College. She also worked as a part-time accountant for a local travel agency for many years and was fortunate to travel several times to England and Italy. Lorraine eventually settled into a financial analyst position at OSRAM/Sylvania, where she devoted 20+ years of her life. She happily retired in 2008.
Lorraine was predeceased by the love of her life Paul, whom she shared over 52 years of marriage. She and Paul resided in Marblehead in the home where they raised their two children. It was there that they entertained grandchildren, celebrated holidays, and held family get-togethers. Lorraine enjoyed sitting on her porch in the warm summer sun, reading and rocking back and forth on her glider. She loved the beach and taking rides around the Neck, as well as dining out with friends and family.
Lorraine is survived by her son Karl Lemieux and his wife Jody of Marblehead, their three children Haley, Abby and Jake; as well as her daughter Danielle Brown and her husband Ryan of Danvers, their three children Becca, Tyler and Zach; and by her sister Carol April of Swampscott. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Ronald Young as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Nutt, Shirley Ann Wilkins, and Jean Young.
