Jimmy Neil Chambers

Jim was born in Linden, Texas on November 2, 1930. He graduated from Linden High School and served five years in the U.S. Navy. He later completed his education in Industrial Management at The University of Texas after marrying Clarene Smelser in Mt. Pleasant, Texas in 1959. They moved to Waco, Texas where Jim was Shipping Department Manager for General Tire and Rubber Company until moving to Tahoka, Texas where he owned a John Deere dealership prior to retiring to Horseshoe Bay in 2001.

Jim was an avid golfer, but more importantly a devoted husband, and a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was known for his positive outlook on life. His love for The University of Texas Longhorns was known by all who knew him and for years when they were playing any sport, anywhere, Jim and Clarene were there. During his first years at Horseshoe Bay, he was President of the Highland Lakes Texas Exes.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Clarene; daughter, Connie Stephens and husband, John, of Dallas, Texas; Grandsons, Holt Stephens of The Woodlands, Texas; Coleman Stephens and wife, Krissy, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Carson Stephens and wife, Ceci, of Cincinnati, Ohio; great grandchildren, Jacob and Preston. He had great joy and was looking forward to the birth of his first great granddaughter to Carson and Ceci.

Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Elsye Jean Chambers, and his parents, Clinton and Gladys Chambers, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
