Jim leaves his wife of almost 60 years, Sandra; daughters Kelly Love and husband Jim, Laura Blanch and husband Rob, Marie Simons and husband Tyler; granddaughter Heather Blanch and grandsons Robbie Blanch, Garrett Love, Daniel Love, (creator of 'Grandad Texas'), Evan Simons, and Eli Simons; his brothers Rankin Chapman and wife Connie, and Scott Chapman and wife Vicki; his brother-in-law Tommy Moran and wife Sarah, plus many nieces and nephews that had a special place in Uncle Jim Dad's aka Uncle Garlic Breath's and Uncle Chevy's heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rankin and Lura Lee Chapman.
Jim was born in Austin, Texas on July 29, 1941, where his parents had moved so that their children could attend the University of Texas. When Jim graduated from UT in 1966, he and his wife Sandra moved to Atlanta, GA. That was the first of many corporate moves. Over the years they lived in Atlanta GA, Ft. Smith AR, Dallas TX, Richardson TX, Hoffman Estates IL, New Milford CT, Tehran, Iran, Denver CO, Wilmington DE, Chesterfield MO, and Georgetown TX, before finally retiring on Lake LBJ in Kingsland, TX. After many years on the lake, Jim and Sandra moved to a 55+ community in Horseshoe Bay, TX.
Among many activities, acts of service, and achievements (including DuPont Marketing Awards, Jaycees, Master Gardener, HOA Board, and Early Voting Clerk), Jim joined the Lions Club in Kingsland and served as their Director, Vice President and President. He was voted Lion of the Year and cherished the friendships he made in the Lions Club.
Jim loved driving his boat up and down Lake LBJ, towing his grandchildren. And while not a very good golfer, he enjoyed playing with his friends as often as he could. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor, making friends wherever he went.
He lived a life to be proud of. We treasure the time we had with him and cherish all the memories made. Share his stories and smile as you remember him. He will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private service will be planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kingsland Lions Club, CASA For the Highland Lakes, or Alzheimer's Texas.
