Sarah Rose Clifford, 87, of Mansfield, passed away just after midnight on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Crystal Care Nursing Center. She waged a 20-year battle with Parkinson's Disease and never once asked "why me". She was one of the strongest and sweetest women you would ever have the pleasure of meeting.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23 This is the perfect verse to describe Sarah and her love of life. She embodied all of these and more.
She graduated as the valedictorian from Mount Morris High School in Pennsylvania with the Class of 1951. She moved to Mansfield in 1952 when she married Eddie Clifford and they made a wonderful life together. Sarah retired after 32 years of service in the Accounting Department at General Motors. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church on Marion Avenue since 1952. She was a member of the D.A.R. and lifetime member of the Mayflower Society.
Sarah was a loving and giving woman and making her family happy and comfortable was her life's ambition. Her most favorite times were being with her family and most especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the U.S., and panned for gold in Alaska-but never struck it rich. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.
Sarah is survived by two daughters, Sally (David) Storm and Julianna (David) Marlow; five grandchildren, Daniel (Amy) Marlow, John (Melissa) Marlow, Thomas (Brittnee) Marlow, Carrie Storm and Tommy Storm; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Clifford.
A private family service will be held. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
